If.....

Gonna try this….

Fill in the blanks...

If I were to get pregnant again At first I would be excited “Yay!” then probably go into a panic “Uh-oh” I really love being a mommy and started bugging my hubby to have another one soon. Now that Jacob is 6 months and very active, I don’t think I can handle two at the same time, “Yikes.” I actually feel bad writing that, “eek.”

If I could have any job in the world I would continue to be a Teacher. I love teaching young minds. The best reward on top of it all, is to see their faces glow in aw when they have learned something new and the progress they have made by the end of the school year.

•If I had a day to myself I would SLEEP IN! Not clean! Not do anything that makes me break out a sweat. And stay on the computer all day!!!!

If I could get married all over again I wouldn’t change a thing. We eloped, it was small (3 other people present) and private. I would love to renew my vows and solemnize our marriage and do the “big” wedding thing.

•If I could live anywhere in the US I would love to live in Michigan or Seattle or maybe even Chicago somewhere up North. I love cold weather.

If Jacob would have been a girl he would have been named (or your baby girl a boy) It would have been Sophia

•If I could have any talent in the world it would be to have and AMAZING voice to sing!

•If you met me in real life you would probably say- HA! I dunno! Um…. Probably that I am genuinely nice.

•If I could go back to school and get a different degree I would get my Masters in either education technology or Administration in Education

If money were not an object  Have a custom made home, and travel, travel and travel!

•If I could meet one celebrity Probably the Kardashian girls! They crack me up so bad when they act silly!

•If I could only shop at one store for the rest of my life Target and Walmart!

•If we get another pet I would want a kitten. A sphinx cat to be exact.

•If I could go on a trip, RIGHT NOW, on a cruise to Greece!

If I had to choose between a house cleaner and a personal chef, The house cleaner for sure! I absolutely cannot stand the house being a mess and it stresses me out when I can’t clean for some reason. I’m super OCD about things, so the house cleaner has to be real GOOD at what they do!

If I had the option of plastic surgery I’d have my keloids removed in hopes that they will never grow back. Get some lipo done.

Meh!!!

6 Months!

Jacoby turned 6 months 6 days ago and silly me never posted about it because, why? I have been busy on pinterest and designing his baptism invites whenever I got a chance. Here’s what Jacob has done up to this month…

This Month…

♥Jacob weighs 20 lbs. and 5 oz.

♥He is growing out of his 9 month old clothes and fit very comfortably in 12 mths.

♥He eats 8 oz twice a day and about 4-6 oz in between pureed food feedings

♥He just started eating finger foods. We got the ok to feed him homemade soups, mashed potatoes and the little Gerber snacks.

♥He has learned how to sit up on his own for a couple of minutes until he gets tired and rolls over to hid tummy.

♥He loves to grab at EVERYTHING that is in front of him, to the right and left of him and behind him.

♥He is teething pretty bad (poor baby) but I don’t feel any teeth coming through kinda annoyed by that.

♥He wants to be held ALL. THE. TIME. If I put him down on his bouncers or swings and tummy he gets bored within 10 minutes, he begins with the fake cries and if I ignore him for too long it turns out to full blown cries.

♥He sits on restaurant high chairs when we go out to eat and bangs his hands on the tables. Future drummer? Maybe.

♥He still wakes up once or twice a night for feedings.

♥He is starting to throw his tantrums when we are out and about.

Happy be-lated 6 months!! Woo-hoo half a year! WOW!

From the Classroom of Mrs. Concepcion

With fall already in session and Halloween right around the corner, I have been trying to think of creative crafts to come up with for my students. As much as I try to think of things we could make, I can't. But it's ok, cause I got co-workers and pinterest to help me with that. My lovely co-worker, Ms. Silva, made these adorable falling leaves mobile with her students. All you would need is small paper plates, construction paper, leave templates, brown crayon and a fall poem. I tried this craft with my kiddos and they LOVED it!

I also got this next idea from pinterest. I had many rolls of butcher paper left over, but I just had them behind my door and they just kept falling over. So I did this...

My school is making us incorporate the Daily 5 into our classroom. At first, I was kinda iffy about it and "oh great, more work for us to do." Now that I have researched it and read about it, I am actually excited about it. My students have fun with it and look they forward to doing the stations. My wonderful cousin Ms. Bloom, thought of an idea to put velcro on the back of the station labels. She thought it would be easier to move the labels rather than to move the individual clips one by one.

On my work on writing station, I made slot boxes out of mail boxes and red gift wrapping paper. I use them to hold the paper templates of:  make a list, postcard, make a story, journal books, letters and the work on writing folders. The students simply grab a work on writing folder, decide what they want to write about, grab a paper and go back to their desks. They use the folder to help them decide what to write about if they get stuck, they could also use them as privacy folders while they write.  Here's what it looks like...

Co-Sleeping

Yes, I co-sleep with my Jacob and I wouldn't change it for the world!! In the early months of his age he would start off by sleeping  in his bassinet then he eventually ended up in our bed between Lester and I. He slept between us for about a month or two until a dear friend of mine lost her baby due to SIDS (not in his crib, but in his car seat sleeping). I was devastated when it happened. All I kept thinking to myself was WHY? Then other thoughts in my head started to creep in, what if I lost Jacob due to SIDS (ugh! just writing it down makes my anxiety level go up) I honestly wouldn't be able to cope! I would be an emotional wreck, I wouldn't want to live anymore. It's so hard for me to write about this, its not easy, I get so choked up over it. BREATH. When she lost her baby, my anxiety came back and I was diagnosed with postpartum depression because of it. I was prescribed prozax to help me through my anxiety. During the same time I noticed that Jacob's right pupil was slightly bigger than his left one. You could just imagine how I was feeling when Dr. Patel recommended him to see an Eye Disease Specialist. Thank God, he is alright! We finally decided to put Jacob to sleep in his crib and made it into a co-sleeper bed. His crib is a 4 in-all bed, Lester removed the side railing and pushed the crib next to our bed. I bought a second mattress to place on top of the other to level it out with our mattress. Jacob sleeps in his own bed and we sleep in ours, but he is still next to me when we sleep. It has made night feedings a whole lot easier. I have recently purchased an Angelcare Baby Sound Monitor that was well worth my money. You simply put the pad under the mattress and it detects EVERY movement, EVERY breath Jacob takes. Because this sensory pad is so sensitive, our co-sleeping days are over :( If we continue co-sleeping the pad will pick up on our breathing movements as well and in case of an emergency it wouldn't detect if Jacob ever stops breathing.  So for now we will have his crib against the wall with all railings up, but he still will be in our bedroom. I still can't let go and have him be in his own room. I am completely ATTACHED to him. I am going to miss reaching out and holding his hand while I sleep in the middle of the night, but it's for the best. As for him being in his own room, he still has his whole life to be in his own bed, so for now I will enjoy waking up in the middle of the night looking over and seeing him sleep peacefully through out the night.

Please excuse our mess and the bad blur on Jacob's face. In the background you can see his bed attached to ours.

LOVE this product. Wish I purchased it the day he was born.

5 Months!

I'm a little late posting this, but on 9/7/11 Jacob turned 5 months!!! Whoa! I have been incredibly hooked on pinterest and my work, that I completely forgot to post about his 5 month b-day. My baby boy is AMAZING. I LOVE being his mother.

♥He's been waking up 2-3 times a night :(
♥Jacob has been getting use to people he is constantly around with, when someone he hasn't seen in awhile picks him up he starts to cry as if they were hurting him.
♥He hums, baby talks A LOT!!
♥He gets extremely grouchy right before bed time
♥He has had one diaper rash so far, poor baby hated it
♥Jacob half way turns, but not completely, still working on it

Products I HEART

These are a couple of  my favorite products that I absolutely love and probably has made my life a little easier. Here's my list:

Fisher Price Bouncer - "how now brown cow"
This has given us a couple of more minutes of "me time." We place Jacob on the bouncy when we are either gathering his diaper bag; picking up the kitchen, bedrooms, or living room; using the computer; working on lesson plans; playing video games (the hubby); or just to get a break from JC's hyper days.

Fisher Price Luv U Zoo Swing
Whenever Jacob is too cranky or just for fun, we place him on this swing. He loves the little zoo animals that are rotating above him. You can rotate the swing portion 3 different ways. It can move from side to side or back and forth. It also has different sound settings with songs and outside cricket noises. When he is extremely tired he'll knock out on the swing.

Palmolive Ultra Baby Bottles, Toy and Dish Wash Liquid

We use this to wash his bottles, bottle nipples, pacifiers and teething toys. Smells very nice and doesn't leave an "after-smell" on nipples.

Little Noses Saline Spray/Drops for Dry for Stuffy Noses
Jacob has been stuffy since the day he was born. Dr. Patel suggested we use "Little Noses" to suction out his mucus. We simply place 2-3 drops in each nostril and suction out his mucus with a suction-ma-jig-thingy. This product is non-medicated, so we were told to use as much as needed. Poor JC, he really gets irritated when he can't breath through his nose while drinking his bottle, he'll get frustrated, which turns to a full blown cry. Once we take out all the bad, slimy, boogers out, he is a happy camper again. Love this product!

Bestever Giraffe Infant Play Mat

This was given to Jacob from our neighbor back in Cali, Tym (thank you!!) JC likes to hang out on this play mat. He takes most of his naps on the giraffe. It's so soft, I wish it was big enough for me to sleep on. Jacob is SO lucky to get to sleep on this!

Pinterest Invite

Would anyone PLEASE spare an invite to pinterest? I would ♥ an invite... Oh puuurrrty PLEASE!!! I'm so desperate hehehe my email is prisconcepcion@gmail.com. Thanks a bunch! :)

I like to eat.eat.eat. apples and bananas....

Jacob can FINALLY eat solids! Whoop Whoop! We got the "ok" to start giving him pureed food. We cheated, of course, and gave him his first taste of solids when we were in Cali. My Mom decided to give him some pureed oatmeal when she babysat him while Lester and I went to go eat. She said he liked it, but the worry wart that I am, I didn't continue it. We first started him off with applesauce, since he has already drank a little bit of Gerber apple juice diluted with water before. He LOVED it!! I was so scared to give him more so I only fed him a couple of spoonfuls. Today we introduced bananas and he LOVED that too!
He ALMOST FINISHED the ENTIRE JAR!!
I am at in awe with the experiences that I am going through with him and there's so MUCH MORE to look forward too!

Happy 4 months!

Jacoby is 4 months today! Whoa! He is growing up to be his own little person now. It's weird how each and everyday that goes by he is starting to act more like a little boy than a baby. I remember when I just couldn't wait until the day he started to smile or the day when he started to babble. These days are coming at me like a lightning bolt. My baby boy isn't so baby anymore **tear**
This month:
♥Jacob weighs 18 lbs
♥He is eating 6-8 oz every 3-4 hours
♥ He has been waking up only once at night *SWEET*
♥ He wears size 3 diapers
♥ He is starting to grow out of his 6 month old clothes into 9 month old
♥ He hardly EVER hiccups anymore
♥ He grabs things and puts them into his mouth
♥ I am thinking he is starting to teeth now *BUMMER*
♥ Jacob's favorite part of the day is STILL bath time
♥ His congestion has improved
♥ He laughs hysterically at his Dad when he plays with him
♥ He rocks himself on his bouncy
♥ Jacob easily falls asleep at bedtime

Momma and Dadda ♥ you!

Back to work... Bummer!

Summer vacay is OVER! I am back at work and teaching a class full of 2nd graders. I ENJOYED my time with JC. I ♥'ed every minute of it and I was dreading the day I had to go back to work. My stomach would literally turn just thinking about it. I am fortunate to have a career that let's me have a good amount of quality time with my son. I work 9 weeks and get 2 weeks off, the cycle continues until summer rolls around and then I get 6 weeks off. My husband works in a family business with his mom, uncle and grandparents. He takes JC to work with him and they all get to enjoy taking care of him. We are VERY LUCKY parents! On July 29th of last year I found out I was pregnant. I was completely shocked and yet very excited at the same time. I look at Jacob everyday and I thank God for blessing me with a beautiful baby boy.

I placed Jacob in his bounce bounce baby jungle and he LOVE it! We had a blast watching him play with the toys. It was neat to see how he reaches out for things now, its the cutest thing ever.

My chill bebe

I am CRAZY when it comes to taking pictures of Jacobo aka the Beast. I mean, C'mon, this boy is so freakin cute!!! I'm not saying this because he's MY son, but look at him, he truly is ADORABLE! Being a Parent has become rather. EASY. Sure, Jacob still gets fussy when its about that time to feed him. Or when he becomes extremely bored after an hour and half.  But we got the hang of this. Parenthood comes so natural to us. Shoooot. We could easily have another baby. HA! Sike! Ok I wouldn't go that far. Honestly, Jacob is very mellowed out. He's quiet most of the time, except for when he's playing with Lester. He laughs hysterically, its quite funny. I can place him on the bouncy for awhile until I get some things done. He'll just sit there, babble and bounce himself. He smiles at almost EVERYONE that smiles at him. He wakes up once a night for feedings. He'll EVEN sleep in LATE with us, which is AWESOME!!! Jacob is a GOOD baby and I'm loving every part of being a Mommy!

California

Our trip to California was fun and relaxing. We didn't do much since we were staying at my moms and because we had Jacob. We went to the beach and JC was mesmerized. He sure is a beach baby. We walked along the shore line and got our feet wet. We laid out and enjoyed the sounds of the waves. JC got his very first haircut by my step dad. My mamma held him while he shaved it off. He did very well, but when it came to shaving the back part of his head, he became very fussy.

Jacob also went into the pool for the very first time. He loves the water. On 4th of July we also went to the beach and had a little picnic. Once the sun settled in the fireworks hit the sky.

Mytubo App. from Android

I absolutely LOVE this app. I am completely obsessed…OBSESSED! Combining this app with a momma who is constantly taking pictures of her son, you get WAAAAY too many pictures to count. I take an excessive amount of phone pictures because it’s the only “quick” device I have with me at all times. Jacob’s smiling..snap! Jacob’s sleeping…snap! Jacob’s flying…snap! Jacob has a booger…snap! HA! I enjoy documenting our family life and things I heart through pictures and blogging. So without further ado, I present to you quite a FEW, ok A LOT, of pictures I took with mytubo app.
